Projects of Patiala Foundation
We at Patiala Foundation are working on a livelihood project (UN-SDG 13) by the name of GreenCABS in the state of Punjab under which we are providing new ECOFriendly cycle rickshaws to persons who are already plying the same or who wish to start the same in the state of Punjab. We also provide the Traction Drivers more Income enhancement options. We are providing them the Patiala GreenCABS with a package of Uniform sets, Membership ID card, MC permit etc. and the rickshaws are of new improved design which are lighter in weight hence they are easy to ply. Without using any wood, these rickshaws are ECO Friendly fitted with seat belts for the safety of the passengers and have more luggage space. In addition to the above project we are also working with the female SHGs and are linking them to the Banks so that they can start with their own livelihood. In our present endeavor we have also expanded our operations in the state of Haryana.
Our main attention has been on providing the beneficiaries with opportunities of livelihood and further working with them to be self sustaining. In this quest, we had recently initiated a project “iSEWA” (UN –SDG 8) under which we have been mapping all the Essential Service Providers ( Mochi, Dhobi, Carpenter, Mason, Painter, Electrician etc) whether Skilled or Unskilled; functioning in the city and subsequently upgrading their skills by providing them proactive training thru open community sourcing. We are working towards making them financially literate and also providing Personality development training. All these ESPs have been uploaded on our open to use Mobile App ‘iSEWA’ and online portal (www.patialafoundation.org) for community use. The Mobile app has been designed on an Open Sourced, Community driven and referred Platform and anybody can register to use and Add any iSEWA they feel shall be of importance for the community. The Mobile app has not only made the lives of the residents simpler but has also imbibed a sense of belongingness and security amongst the community. Subsequently a batch of similar ESPs are trained for Skill Enhancement and other related things. The ESPs in turn cater to more people and are able to enhance their income and associate with the leaders of the industry so that they can benefit from them. As a result their families have also been benefited as their standard of living has improved and they are more open to the Social Development Schemes of the Government.
We at present are operating thru our Head office at Patiala and are present in 16 other cities thru associate partners like NGOs, Administration etc. We undertake Skill Enhancement Camps of the mapped ESPs of the cities in which these ESPs are made aware about various services like Aadhar card, Financial literacy, Insurance and other Social Sector Schemes of the Government. Till now 8654 ESPs have been uploaded to the website from 57 categories which include Carpenter, Mali, Mochi, Dhobi, Auto rickshaws, Rickshaws, Electrician, Sabziwala, Fruitwala etc. 765 ESPs have been Provided Skill Enhancement Training by the foundation.
