iHERITAGE

  • We had initiated our iHERITAGE Project (UN-SDG 15 &16) under which we are working towards the recognition of Heritage sites in the state of PUNJAB.

Under the iHERITAGE Project, Patiala Foundation motivates and facilitates people to engage with their Heritage and conduct various events and Heritage Walks among school children and visitors to create awareness about Heritage and Culture. We work in tandem with the Administration to promote conservation of our traditional crafts and artifacts. Constant efforts are being made to keep the old vocations and traditional occupations alive through this project by showcasing the heritage, by arranging small mela’s and through guided tours. Patiala Foundation attempts to involve the school children in this project through various programs like treasure hunts, games, quizzes and other interesting activities. This project also aims at increasing the skill base and market options for the women of the District. The self help groups extend an arena for them to preserve the heritage, and the ethnic workmanship. The heritage walks, conservation and celebrations have been stretched to all the important heritage sites of the State and has involved hundreds of people in knowing and understanding our culture better. The numerous awards and laurels bestowed upon the Foundation is an encouragement for us to do better. The digital kaleidoscope which is being launched shortly will bring the saga of tradition and heritage alive virtually. It will enable us to project the beautiful heritage of our city to every nook and corner of this globe. This will bring forth abundant opportunities for growth, prosperity and increased livelihood opportunities for hundreds of people.

Total Beneficiaries Reached- Around 17020 people have been reached directly through 6 Mega Heritage Walks at Patiala, Bahadurgarh Fort, Ghuram, Samana, Sultanpur Lodhi & Qila Androon and 121 Patiala Heritage Walks among various schools, colleges, organizations, NSS groups and visitors from foreign countries (England, Australia) and other Indian states like Kerala, Assam, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai etc.

    Patiala Heritage Treasure Hunt

Recently, The Patiala Foundation in collaboration with the district administration celebrated Heritage, treasure Hunt on 26.02.23 as part of the Patiala Heritage Festival 2023.The treasure hunt and saw people from across the city, participation with enthusiasm, zeal, and dedication. The Hunt covered the Heritage Trail of 2 km which showcases, the tradition, architecture and culture of Patiala. Around 90 participants were divided into four teams; namely the House of Patiala, House of Jind, House of Nabha and House of Kaithal, which had to answer the questions based on the history of Patiala to reach out to the next point. We believe that the Treasure Hunt was a way to involve the youth to come forward and know the history and traditions of the city better and also encourages the old traditional livelihoods to be sustained.
